Today marks the 35th anniversary of theRevolução dos Cravos” (The Carnation Revolution), or simply the “25 de Abril, the date marks the left-leaning military coup started on April 25, 1974, that effectively changed the Portuguese regime from an authoritarian dictatorship to a democracy, ending the Estado Novo, the longest authoritarian regime in Western Europe

In some ways the revolution hasn’t ended yet…
